Bottle Heroes, Pours & Cocktail Sets

Beverage and spirits product photography splits into three jobs, and most brands need all three: the clean bottle hero that carries the label, the pour frame that gives it motion, and the cocktail-lifestyle set that shows the drink being made.

The Work

What Does a Bottle Shoot Cover?

Shot together in one session, those three share a look — which is what makes a launch feel like a brand rather than a folder of images.

Why Glass Is Hard

Why Do Bottle Photos Look Flat?

Glass is the hardest surface to shoot: it reflects the room, refracts the label, and shows every fingerprint at full resolution. Bottles get lit with controlled reflections rather than blasted with light — the bright edge defining a shoulder is placed deliberately, not hoped for. Dark liquor and clear liquor are lit differently, because one absorbs light and the other passes it through.

Controlled reflectionsHighlights are shaped and placed, so the bottle reads as glass instead of a grey cutout.
Label stays legibleType and foil hold at the resolution a marketplace will crop into.
Shot before it wiltsGarnish and condensation last minutes, so the set is built before the drink is.

A Recent Beverage & Spirits Photography Project

Real bottle-and-cocktail work — the set is built before the drink is, because garnish has a working life of minutes

Dustyn Reno lights and shoots every bottle himself — the same photographer behind product, video, and lifestyle work featuring spirits brands including Maker's Mark, Jack Daniels, Apothic, El Silencio, and Selvarey Rum, much of it cocktail-lifestyle content produced with beverage creator The Garnish Guy.

In May 2026, at my Riverside CA studio, I shot a launch set for a small-batch distillery that mailed four SKUs in from out of state — a hard-key bottle hero per label, a pour frame for each, and a run of cocktail-lifestyle stills built on a bar set with fresh citrus and rosemary. Selects were approved tethered on set, and the edited stills plus two pour clips went back sized for the brand's own channels.

Local context: Glass is lit for controlled reflection rather than raw output: a shaped highlight defines the bottle shoulder, dark spirits are lit through from behind and clear spirits from the side, and everything runs on a Sony A7R V through the same color-managed sRGB pipeline behind my CRMLS listing work — so a label holds its hue from a retailer's shelf-talker to a marketplace thumbnail.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a bottle shoot cost?
Styled frames start at $125 each, lifestyle scenes and pour clips at $150. Clean white-background frames are $35 each, with a $300 order minimum.Full pricing guide
Can we ship bottles to you?
Yes — this line is national mail-in. Ship from any state; return postage is covered by your prepaid label or invoiced. Alcohol shipping follows your carrier's rules.
Do you shoot the cocktails too, or just the bottle?
Both, usually in the same session. Cocktail-lifestyle work is where most drink brands get their social and campaign frames, and building the serve on set keeps bottle and glass matched.
Do you shoot video as well as stills?
Yes. Pour-and-build clips and 360 spins are shot from the same set, so motion and stills share lighting and look.
