Menu, Drink & Brand Photography That Sells Covers

Professional food photography for restaurants, bars, and brands — shot on-location at your venue with your kitchen plating the real menu. Dustyn has photographed for working restaurants across Long Beach and LA, including recurring weekly coverage at Mezcalero's two locations. Menu shoots from $349, delivered the next business day.

Why It Matters

Why Does Professional Food Photography Pay for Itself?

People order with their eyes before they ever taste your food. Your dishes show up on delivery apps, Google, Instagram, Yelp, and your printed menu — and on every one of those surfaces, the photo is the pitch. A dim phone shot of a great dish loses to a well-lit photo of an average one, every time. Professional food photography isn't decoration; it's the difference between a scroll-past and an order. Dustyn has shot for working restaurants and bars across Long Beach and Los Angeles — the kind of venues where the photos have to sell covers, not win art awards.

Delivery apps are photo-firstDoorDash and Uber Eats listings live or die on the thumbnail. Menu items with strong photos consistently outsell identical items without them.
Google is your new front doorDiners check your Business Profile photos before they check your menu. Current, appetizing images convert searchers into tables.
Social needs a library, not one shotA single shoot produces weeks of post-ready content — dishes, drinks, and details your team can schedule out.
Menus sell harder with pictures that match the platePhotography that looks like what actually arrives builds trust — and repeat orders.

On-Location Process

What Does a Food Photography Shoot Actually Look Like?

Every shoot happens at your venue, with your kitchen plating the real menu. Dustyn arrives with lighting, works with whatever space you have — a corner table, the bar rail, the pass — and moves dish by dish as the kitchen fires them. Frames are reviewed tethered on-site so you see selects before the session ends. No studio, no shipping food across town, no guessing. Finished, color-corrected files arrive the next business day, sized for print menus, delivery platforms, and social.

Your kitchen, your platesDishes are shot as your team actually plates them — the photos match what customers get.
Fast per-dish rhythmA tight menu shoot moves through 8–12 dishes in a couple of hours without wrecking a service prep window.
Tethered review on-siteYou approve selects live on a laptop screen — no surprises at delivery.
Next-business-day deliveryThe same turnaround standard as every DRD shoot. Ready for the printer, the apps, and the feed.

Beyond the Plate

Drinks, Desserts, and the Full Beverage Program

Food photography that stops at entrées leaves money on the table. Cocktails, coffee, desserts, and the backbar are where margins live — and they're the hardest subjects to shoot well. Glassware throws reflections, ice melts, foam collapses. Dustyn's bar work across Long Beach nightlife venues — including The Harbor before it closed — built the reflexes for shooting drinks fast, lit, and appetizing before the condensation is gone.

Cocktails & backbarSignature drinks lit to glow — the shots that anchor a bar program's Instagram.
Beverage brand workBottle and pour photography for beverage and liquor brands — product-grade lighting on location.
Desserts & pastryClose-up plated work for the end of the menu — tortes, plating details, bakery cases.
Ambiance framesThe room, the light, the bar in motion — context shots that round out a full menu set.

On-location menu shoot — one softbox, tethered review, next-business-day delivery

Dustyn Reno shoots every food session personally — the same photographer who covered weekly service nights at Mezcalero's Long Beach and Downtown Los Angeles locations handles your menu shoot end to end.

In June 2026 I shot a full menu refresh for a family-owned breakfast café in Riverside CA — 22 dishes photographed across one morning: plated entrées under a single softbox, coffee close-ups, and a set of overhead flat lays for the printed menu. Files were color-corrected that evening and delivered the next business day; the owner had the new menu at the printer by Friday.

Local context: Every food session runs on a Sony A7R V with studio strobes and diffusion — the same color-managed sRGB pipeline I use for CRMLS listing work — so dishes read true to color on print menus, delivery apps, and Instagram alike.

Where do you shoot — do we come to a studio?
No studio. Every shoot happens on-location at your restaurant, bar, café, or kitchen — anywhere across Long Beach, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire including Riverside, Corona, and Ontario. Dustyn brings the lighting; your kitchen brings the food.
How many dishes can you shoot in one session?
A focused menu shoot moves through roughly 8–12 dishes in about two hours once the kitchen finds its rhythm — plating one dish while the previous one is being shot. A half-day session covers most full menus, around 20–25 finished images including drinks and a few interior frames.
Do we need a food stylist?
For most restaurant work, no — your kitchen plates the dish the way it actually goes out, and Dustyn handles angles, light, and small on-set adjustments. That's the point: photos that match the real plate build trust. Dedicated stylists make sense for packaged-product or advertising work, and can be brought in for those projects.
Can we use the photos on DoorDash, Uber Eats, and our menu?
Yes — every delivery includes full usage rights for your menus, website, delivery platforms, Google Business Profile, and social channels. Files arrive sized for each surface, including the crop specs DoorDash and Uber Eats enforce on menu images.
Do you shoot drinks and cocktails too?
Yes — cocktails, coffee programs, and backbar work are a core part of most shoots, and beverage-brand product photography is available as its own engagement. Drinks are shot fast and lit properly, before ice melt and collapsed foam ruin the frame.
