Real estate agent headshot requirements differ from one brokerage to the next, and the detail that forces a reshoot is almost never the one people worry about. Confirm five things before the session and a single visit covers every place your face has to appear.

The shoot itself is short. The preparation is what decides whether you use the files for the next three years or book again in a month.

Ask Your Brokerage These Five Things

• Background. Plain and consistent across the team page, or environmental — you at a listing, outdoors, in the office? Franchises often standardise this, independents rarely do.
• Crops. Which aspect ratios do they need, and at what pixel sizes? A square profile circle and a vertical yard sign are not the same photo.
• Attire. Some brands specify a jacket, a brand colour, or a name badge. Most say nothing at all.
• File specs. Maximum file size and format for the intranet or team-page upload. This is the one that bounces most often.
• Usage. Whether the brokerage keeps rights to the image, and what happens to it if you move firms.

What to Wear

Solid mid-tones photograph best. Very tight patterns — fine checks, thin stripes, herringbone — can shimmer or buzz on screen, and that artefact survives every crop. Texture is the safer way to keep an outfit interesting: a knit, a weave, a lapel.

Long sleeves almost always read better than short. Bring a layer you can add or remove, because that single change gives you a formal frame and a relaxed one without a second setup.

The Crops Nobody Mentions

A profile photo gets cropped to a circle. A yard sign is tall. A team page banner is wide. Shot as one landscape frame and cut down afterwards, at least one of those ends up with your chin at the edge.
